Nathan Brown proposes Paul Anderson as the head coach of the Huddersfield Giants
The legacy left behind by the Giants Head Coach Nathan Brown will be taken over by an equally able Paul Anderson, who is currently filling in as the assistant to Brown since 2006.
This announcement was made by the Giants after Brown confirmed that he was looking forward to return to Australia after the end of his existing contract with Giants in November 2012. Without any further delay, the club announced Brown’s successor for the
soon-to-be-vacant position. The selection has been endorsed by the departing head coach, who himself speaks highly of Anderson and acknowledges that no one else could fill in his position more perfectly than Anderson.
It appears that Brown’s commendable coaching capabilities will pose the biggest threat for Anderson, who will slip on the coaching hat in November 2012. Meanwhile, Brown is all set to finish off his last year at Huddersfield at a much higher note. He is
ambitioning to bring in silverware, which has been a rare sight at the club during the past 50 years. Brown, being a staunch believer of facilitating youth since the very start of his stint at the club, is counting on Dale Ferguson, Aaron Murphy, Jon Molloy
and Joe Wardle in 2012.
After reigning in the responsibility at Huddersfield in 2009, he took his side to the Challenge Cup Final where they were whitewashed in a close 25-16 battle by the Warrington Wolves. He always had strived for finishing off within top five teams and the
results were apparent in the very first year. Another instance of that struggle saw the Giants finishing at the third spot in the Super League. The same year brought in recognition for his side, when they accrued the club of the year award along with the Super
League Coach of The Year award for Brown.
2010 was also a very brilliant rugby league year for the Giants, who managed to put up a great derby display under Brown’s coaching with Anderson assisting him.
2011 will be recalled as the year when Brown brought in younger talent to boost his side, which once again managed to finish within the top five teams of the years. Jermaine McGillvary filled in as the winger who was recognised as the top scorer of the club.
Leroy Cudjoe and Michael Lawrence also made their mark through their on-field brilliance during the same year.
It seems that Brown’s concluding year at the club will bring in a lot of recognition for his side, which will be taken over by Anderson after his departure. It is believed Anderson will fit the position perfectly, because he has been handling the coaching
affairs at Huddersfield for so long alongside Brown, which means that he is already aware of the shortcomings of the club, and is already well acquainted with the issues he will have to address at the franchise.
Anderson was also appointed the caretaker head coach for the Huddersfield Giants towards the end of Super League III. Anderson began his rugby league career at 1991 with Leeds Rhinos. He also played for Bradford Bulls, Great Britain and later for the St.
Helens.
In 2006, Anderson confirmed hanging up his boots at the Huddersfield, where he had reigned in the assistant coach to Brown, since then he had stuck with the club. This is all the more reason for his pick by Brown for the head coach’s position.
