Nathan Cleverly says he has not come into the sport to lose – Boxing news
The current World Boxing Organisation light heavyweight world champion, Nathan Cleverly, reckons losing is not an option for him in his much-anticipated bout against the reigning British and Commonwealth champion, Tony Bellew.
The bout will take place this Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, Merseyside.
The undefeated Welsh prospect, Cleverly, who holds a perfect record of winning all of his 22 professional fights, with 11 of them coming by the way of a knockout, told the media he is pretty excited ahead of his clash and just wants the fight to get on.
“I'm feeling good and I'm excited and bubbling at the moment, I'm just looking forward to getting the fight on,” Cleverly told Frankwarren.tv “The night is nearly here, now all the hype is going to be put behind and lets just get on with business.” he added.
The 24-year-old pugilist, Cleverly, recently stated he will consider retirement if he loses to Bellew and he still has not changed his mind. He insisted that he will probably walk away from the sport if he loses. He remarked he has not come into the sport
to lose.
“I'm serious, if I lost on Saturday night to Bellew then yeah I probably would consider getting out of the sport, because I haven't come into it to lose,” insisted the champion.
In the end, Cleverly once again said he is looking forward to the challenge and just wants the fight to get on.
“I'm looking forward to the challenge, I love a challenge and I'm just excited now to get the fight on,” Cleverly added.
The 28-year-old Liverpudlian boxer, Tony Bellew, has also never been defeated in the ring as of yet. He has won all of his 16 professional bouts, with 10 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Moreover, Bellew has vowed he will shock the world by clinching
the world title in just 17 fights. So let’s see if Cleverly can really shrug off Bellew on the fight night.
