Nathan Hauritz not in favour of Australia having a specialist spin-bowling coach
Australian off-spinner, Nathan Hauritz, reckons that the absence of a full-time spin-bowling coach in the Australian camp is not a major problem.
Cricket Australia appointed former Aussie pacer, Craig McDermott as its new bowling coach. McDermott, just like his predecessor Tory Cooley, will also be mentoring the spin attack of Kangaroos besides the fast bowlers.
Hauritz backed the idea of having one bowling coach for both spin and fast bowling as having two coaches can confuse things.
"It is good, it gives you someone else to talk to about fields and tactics, but sometimes it can confuse things," said Hauritz while talking to a leading cricket website. "You can have too much. It can be a bit overwhelming at the
end of the day,” he added.
The 29-year-old Queenslander said that there is so much technology these days that can help the slow bowlers a lot to improve their game even in the absence of a spin specialist mentor.
In his 71 Test appearances, McDermott, 46, picked up 291 wickets at an average of 28.63 and an economy rate of 3.01. While in 138 One Day Internationals, the former Australia speedster claimed 203 scalps at an average of 24.71 and
an economy rate of 4.03.

“Craig McDermott's experience and record speaks for itself,” said the right-arm off spinner. “I think he'll be invaluable for the side. And he's going to offer different opinions about spin bowling as well. It's all going to be worth
listening to," he added further.
