Nathan Hauritz yet again overlooked for third Ashes Test
The third Ashes Test will commence from 16th of December and one wonders how Australia is going to deliver in that Test match. A lot is expected from the Aussies in Perth and if they lose this one than their hopes of regaining the Ashes will be
gone for good. Australia has many areas to work on, and one area which requires a lot of attention is their bowling. Their bowling has been an issue for them for quite some time, and they have lacked the punch in their bowling which was once regarded as incomparable.
In recent times, their bowling has suffered in dismissing the sides twice in a test match. Their bowling department has suffered a lot, as their main bowlers have failed to deliver the performance required at the top level. Mitchell Johnson was the bowler
who was dropped from their side after the first Test, and it seemed after the defeat in the second Ashes Test, Australia is most likely to bring him back for the third test. Such is the state of their bowling at the moment that they are experimenting with
all their options to bring the best bowling options for their side. We simply don’t see the variety and depth in the Aussie bowling, as they don’t test the batsmen to the extent.
Their spin department lacks in experience and skill. They included 3 spinners for the Ashes series, and so far they have played Xavier Doherty in the series. Nathan Hauritz is one spinner who has played far more cricket compared to Xavier Doherty. Keeping
this factor in mind he should have been given a chance in the test series. Nathan Hauritz had a disaster tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in which he failed to deliver a good performance in the Test series. Not only he was expensive in his spells, but he did not manage to get
important wickets for his side. For a spinner, it is quite necessary to build pressure on the batsmen, but he was unable to build any sort of pressure on the Indians. His weak performance proved quite heavy on him, as he was not considered for the two Ashes
tests. But many critics and cricket experts now believe he should have been included in place of Xavier Doherty in the Ashes series. Nathan Hauritz is much experienced bowler as compared to Xavier Doherty, and experience is something that holds a great value
in test cricket.
More importantly, he has a good record in Australia and he has taken two 5 wicket hauls in Australia. Who can forget his performance in Sydney, in which he was one of the main performer for the Aussies in their victory against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 at the start of the
year. He performed exceptionally well in the series with the ball, and managed highest wickets for Australia in the series. After the recent Indian tour, Tim Nielson backed Hauritz, saying he would be effective in Australia as he would have assistance in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746
because of bounce in the wickets. Shane Warne was another player who backed Nathan Hauritz before the Ashes series, and highlighted this fact that Nathan Hauritz is the best spinner in Australia. If the legendary spinner is backing a player, then that player
must have some potential inside him. Nathan Hauritz has been working on his bowling for quite some time and it seemed he has managed some control over his bowling. He would have performed well against the English batsmen, as he has played against them in 2009
Ashes series. In the 2009 Ashes series he took 10 wickets for the Aussies and did bowl some decent spells. But the inclusion of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949 in the Aussie squad is not a smart move from the Aussie selectors, as Nathan Hauritz had a good run lately when he
took a 5 wicket haul against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823. Hauritz is the most experienced spinner in Australia at the moment, and most importantly now, when Australia are founding it hard to control the English onslaught, he would have been a good choice for the Aussies.
Xavier Doherty was the major disappointment in Adelaide as he went for a lot of runs and English batsmen played him with ease. With a bit of experience at test level, Nathan Haurtiz would have managed to test the English batsmen to an extent. We have to wait
and see whether Australia’s decision of not including Hauritz in third test is the right one or not.
