Nathan Hindmarsh out to celebrate NRL milestone – Rugby League news
Nathan Hindmarsh, the Parramatta captain is heading out for his 300th game landmark on Saturday when he will lead his pack, Eels in a clash against Penrith.
This encounter at Centrebet Stadium will make him the 16th player to ever achieve it. Records reveal that he will be the seventh player to ever reach this stature while sticking to the same club.
Hindmarsh has expressed his frustration for failing to win the grand final ever despite being part of the squad twice. While discussing his 300th game milestone achievement he further shared that it will be felt as a void by him as he has missed
out on the opportunity twice which all players aspire to achieve, as he himself quoted, “I don't know if the feeling would be there, if I hadn't been in one. That's what you work every year for - to win a grand final. But if I hadn't been in one, the desire
probably wouldn't be there as much, knowing what the loss is like.”
Furthermore, he mentioned that he is aware of that fact that if he misses out the grand final this year then there will be “a nice, strong side going into 2012.”
Hindmarsh has shown loyalty with his club, since his debut in rugby, which is a very rare trait these days where money is used to buy the best players into the squad.
While about his club the “blue and gold” skipper of Parramatta said, “Parramatta gave me the opportunity. They're a great club with great tradition and their supporters are awesome, so I really didn't need to go anywhere else.”
This 31-year-old has stuck to Parramatta from his debut with them and has never thought of leaving it ever. He also mentioned that another club only once tried to approach him, but he turned down that offer and continued with his Eels, but he did not disclose
the source of that offer.
He believes that he has been blessed in injuries department especially, as he never had to be out of a game for being injured for that too he attributed Rugby League, as unlike union game “it does not last forever.”
Amongst the top five one-club players Hindmarsh falls on second spot with Darren Lockyer leading with a total of 345 games with one club. Following Hindmarsh is Ben Hornby of Dragon with 239 games, which is closely followed by Luke Burt with 236 games. Corey
Parker with 216 games to his credit, lands this back-rower on the fifth spot.
As the hype for Hindmarsh’s 300th game with the single club is building up, this loyal “blue and gold” veteran says that his entire focus will be on wining the Saturday nights’ game.
