Nathan Robertson, Jenny Wallwork and Rajiv Ouseph are England’s hope at 2011 World Championships
England’s Mixed Doubles top seeds, Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork, and Men’s Singles ace shuttler, Rajiv Ouseph are the country’s hope for glory at the 2011 World Championships, which are scheduled to begin from Monday, August 8, at the Wembley Indoor
Arena in London, England.
Nathan and Jenny are considered as one of the major contenders for the Mixed Doubles crown at the world meet, as the couple has the ability to beat top shuttlers from China, Indonesia and Korea. They have been doing it in the past and the duo is determined
to do it again in this home event by playing top-class badminton.
The couple is currently ranked at Number Eight in the Mixed Doubles world rankings and seeded 10th in the World Championships. They have a bye in the opening round of the event and are expected to fight against Malaysia’s Cham Peng Soon and Goh
Liu Ying.
The Malaysia duo has proved themselves as strong contenders in the past and the encounter is sure to be a close clash. However, Nathan and Jenny are well prepared this time and want to let the local crowd cheer for them in the world meet. The English duo
will have a considerable advantage of home ground while playing against the Malaysian shuttlers.
In the category of Men’s Singles, Rajiv Ouseph of England will play against Europe’s best shuttler and World Number Three, Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark, in the opening round of Men’s Singles. The 34-year-old Peter has maintained his position among the top
players in the world, which shows his commitment and dedication towards the game.
World Number 27, Rajiv, who grabbed the silver medal at the 2012 Commonwealth Games, has never won even a single set against the Danish in all of their previous meetings, which is a disappointing fact for the English shuttler. However, this time Ouseph is
confident to play well against Peter Gade in their opening round clash.
The 2011 World Championships will start from Monday at the Wembley Arena and English shuttlers are determined to put up a good show in this mega event.
