Nathan Williams and Ty Morrow pull out of X Games Street due to wrist injuries
American professional BMX riders Nathan Williams and Ty Morrow will miss the latest edition of X Games that is scheduled to go down in Los Angeles, California, in the end of June due to wrist injuries.
The United Bike Co. pro Williams had been sitting on the sidelines since sustaining a scaphoid bone fracture last month. He had already undergone surgery to repair the bone. Still in the process of recovering, the Nashville-based rider realises that he will
not be able to regain full fitness for the BMX Street at the mega-event of action sports. Therefore he decided to pull out instead of taking any unnecessary risk with his injury.
Another spot became vacant in BMX Street following Morrow’s withdrawal from the upcoming X Games in Los Angeles. The West Palm Beach-based rider posted a picture of his bandaged arm on internet with the caption “About to get surgery on my wrist!”
While the snapshot makes it obvious that he has sustained a wrist injury, the cause and extent of injury is still unknown. With him undergoing surgery for an unspecified wrist injury, there was no choice for him but to pull out of the BMX Street event.
The withdrawal of Williams and Morrow has opened up the gates for Rob Wise and Simone Barrack. Riding for GT Bicycles pro, Wise is not inexperienced when it comes to competing at X Games. The Salt Lake City-based rider made an appearance in the BMX Street
at the biggest stage of action sports a few years back, though he went home medal-less. He would be looking to make the most of the latest opportunity that he has received.
The other selected alternate Barraco will be performing in front of the X Games crowd for the first time. The Italy-based Subrosa pro will make determined to leave a mark at Los Angeles, a task that will demand a lot from him considering the level of competition
that he would be up against.
Start from June 28, X Games will be celebrating 10 years of featuring the world’s best action sports athletes putting on some of the most memorable performances in Los Angeles.
