Nathaniel on his way to Sandown to participate in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes
The John Gosden trained, Nathaniel, is likely to compete in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown, where he will aim to win - based on his current exercise routine – the Coral-Eclipse Stakes.
John Gosden is pleased with the way the runner has been performing recently, and his mid-week work-out at Newmarket was satisfying.
The mega-event at Sandown will take place on 7th July, 2012, where the four-year-old will collide with some of the best runners. Jockey William Buick is confident about the colt’s form, and believes that he can deliver in an
exceptional manner.
The trainer commented:
"Nathaniel had to miss his prep race (in the Brigadier Gerard) because of a nasty scope but he'll come back in the Eclipse. I think he's just coming back to himself.
"I was very pleased with his work yesterday and he'll go straight to Sandown."
The rider is also excited about Nathaniel’s return to the track for his seasonal debut, nad thinks he is in good form and seems to have grown-up to his full size, he said:
"He would have to be one of the best mile and a quarter horses in training and it's pleasing that he looks a bigger horse that has grown into his frame."
Whelped on 24th April, 2008, Nathaniel has shown his capability on a number of different occasions. From his maiden onwards, which was held on 13th August, 2010, he has ridden in the capable hands of
William Buick.
Over the course of his short career, the son of Galileo, out of mare Magnificient Style, has competed in seven starts, where he claimed three victories and finished thrice as a runner-up.
Buick led the bay colt to victory in the Group 1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored By Betfair) British Champions' Series at Ascot on 23rd July, 2011, which is one of the biggest victories the young runner
has claimed.
The duo worked extremely well together and managed to complete the 1 mile and 4 furlong course in style and finished 2 ¾ lengths ahead of race favourite, Workforce, who was mounted by Ryan Moore.
