Natick boys volleyball team defeats Framingham by 3-1 on Friday
The Natick boys volleyball team had been defeated by Framingham in the last match that the two teams met each other. On Friday, Framingham visited Natick giving the Red and Blue an opportunity to redeem themselves for the earlier loss.
Natick was successful in doing just that. The Red and Blue handed out a defeat to Framingham in a thrilling match that went on till four sets. Apart from the fact that Natick had to avenge the loss they had suffered, the Red and Blue also had to maintain
its winning streak at home court. It was not since the year 2007 that Natick had lost any match at home ground and they were determined not to lose any yet.
By the time that Natick team was screaming their throats sore along with the crowd upon winning the match and Framingham was heading out of the court with heads hung low, the score board showed the following final set scores: 25-19, 25-21, 17-25 and 25-23.
With their recent win, Natick has been able to bring up the number of their overall season wins to the amount of 13. These victories have been achieved at the cost of incurring two losses so far. The Bay State Conference record of the Red and Blue team also
shows the same number of wins and losses as their overall season ones: 13-2. In contrast to the performance statistics of Natick, Framingham has had overall season wins that equal to the amount of 15. While tallying these wins, Framingham has suffered defeats
that equal to be two so far. In the BSC, Framingham has had 13 wins while experiencing two defeats.
The first set of the game started off with Natick taking the lead for themselves. Framingham did not let them get too far and remained successful in giving the Red and Blue tough competition all through the match. In the end however, Natick managed to break
free and secure the opening set of the game at 25-19.
After losing the first set, Framingham tried to come out strong in the second one but they failed to secure it despite putting in a commendable effort. After having lost the first two sets, Framingham was determined to make a win in the third one. They were
successful in bagging the third set of the game at 25-17. However, this was the only win that Framingham was able to achieve as they lost the fourth one to Natick at 25-23.
"They opened the door for us (by losing April 25)," said Emily Viti, the Framingham coach. "I don't want to make excuses, but it's very difficult for a team that doesn't have a long legacy of winning to become familiar with the idea of becoming a Bay State
champ. I have no doubt that we're capable, we just didn't reach out and grab it."
