Nation Hockey League Latest – New York Rangers host Carolina Hurricanes
New York Rangers will be hosting the second of the four meetings between the two teams. The last between the two teams saw Carolina Hurricanes win the match 4-3 with the winning goal scored by Erik Cole on the 29th of October 2010.
An amazing fact ahead of the match is that Carolina Hurricanes had defeated the New York Rangers in each of their last three meeting at the Madison Square Garden. Carolina Hurricanes are definitely ready for notching up a win this time out. A win at Madison
Square Garden would result in the Hurricanes winning four games for the time since 1987 at the Madison Square Garden. A win would also extent New York Rangers losing streak to three games in the league this season.
Previously, Carolina had maintained a three game winning streak after losing out to the Florida Panthers who won 4-3 after overtime. Zach Boychuk and Jay Harrison score for the Carolina Hurricanes to level the scores after they were down 3-1 after the first
period. Though Carolina lost the match but they have as a result of the match going into overtime scored at least a point in their last four games.
Coach of the Carolina Hurricanes, Paul Maurice was happy after the result saying that a point after trailing was a great achievement.
"I liked the fact that we were able to fight back in the game," Maurice said.
Carolina Hurricanes has played 38 games so far out of which they have won 18 games in regulation time and 5 games in overtime scoring 41 points. New York Rangers on the other hand has played 40 games so far out of which they have won 22 games in regulation
time and 3 games in overtime scoring 47 points.
New York Rangers lost the game against the Florida Panthers 3-0 this Sunday and then lost the Tampa Bay Lightning on started. A loss against the Carolina Hurricanes would hand them the third defeat in a row. The last time New York Rangers had a three game
losing streak was against during October 11-18 and will not want to repeat it.
Though the Rangers are leading the Carolina Hurricanes in terms of points and positions in the league but ahead of the match and the weak form of Rangers Carolina Hurricanes look in good shape to win the match.
Ahead of the match New York Rangers will be pleased to know that Marian Gaborik has been very strong against the Carolina Hurricanes. Though currently on a goal drought, this player has scored 7 goals against the Hurricanes.
On the other hand, Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward is in good form and been a major part of the majority wins of the Hurricanes.
