National Basketball Association (NBA) special report: Top Ten NBA Dunks Ever - - Part II
Number 6: Jason Richardson - - 2003 Slam Dunk Contest
Jason Richardson “J-Rich” is an American professional basketball player for Orlando Magic.
Needing a 49 to win, Shooting guard Richardson won the 2003 NBA Slam-Dunk Title by bounce passing the ball to himself, then taking the rock to the rack with a reverse-twist jam.
Standing 6ft 6in, Richardson beat Michael Jordan, Vince Carter and others for the overall title with 94 per cent of the fans/judges giving a perfect 10 for this flush.
Number 7: Julius Erving-- 1983 Philadelphia 76ers vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Julius Erving, commonly known by the nickname “Dr. J” is a retired American basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers. He is the fifth-highest scorer in professional basketball history, with 30,026 points. Julius is well known for slam-dunking from the
free throw line in Slam Dunk Contests.
Dr. J performed a never been done before “Cradle Dunk,” one of the best dunks ever in Philadelphia 76ers match with Los Angeles Lakers.
Number 8: Spud Webb - - 1986 Slam Dunk Contest
Spud Webb is a retired American NBA professional basketball point guard for Atlanta Hawks. Webb is currently the President of Basketball Operations for the Texas Legends.
With just a height of 5ft 7in, Webb showed the world that short men could jump with a crack up “Backwards Double Pump” to win the 1986 Slam Dunk contest. He ditched his teammate Dominique Wilkins, who was almost a foot taller than he was. It was one of the
most memorable moments in NBA history and inspired the whole basketball world.
Number 9: Brent Barry - - 1996 Slam Dunk Contest
Shooting guard Brent Barry played professionally for the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Seattle SuperSonics, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets.
Brent Barry is generally considered a good passer and has had three seasons where he averaged more than five assists per game. Barry won the 1996 NBA Slam Dunk Contest with a tremendous glide; he sailed in the air and dunked the ball with a Dr. J. invented
“Free Throw Line Dunk.”
Number 10: Dwight Howard - - 2008 Slam Dunk Contest
Dwight Howard is a basketball player for Orlando Magic. Howard has been ranked consistently as one of the best in the league in rebounds, blocks, field goal percentage and free throw attempts and has set numerous franchise and league records.
First, Dwight Howard threw the ball from behind the backboard, then put and dunked and the second gliding high he slam-dunked the ball into the net. With this win, Dwight shoots up above the defending champion Gerald Green, Rudy g*y and Jamario Moon to crown
the 2008 Sprite Slam Dunk champion.
