National Championship features four Central High School players in Team Rambo - Volleyball
Four volleyball players from the Central High School are part of the National Championship volleyball team. These outstanding players include Eddy Bennett, Paul Cunningham, Mark Steele and Scott Dodson. The four players have done well and are coming off
a very success season so far.
The national team that these players will now be devoting their skills and energies to is Team Rambo. The team consists of some of the finest players from the state of Pennsylvania. The areas from where the players are taken up include Blair County and Johnstown.
One of the recent achievements of Team Rambo includes having won the Division Championship at the national level in the United States of America Volleyball National Championships. The prestigious tournament took place in May at the Dallas Convention Center.
The event was a booming success for Team Rambo as it was able to win 10 matches in an impressive manner. What was more commendable was the fact that Team Rambo lost only two encounters. This record translated into Team Rambo coming out on top of the 68 teams
that took part in the championships.
Bennet commented on the experience after a match against the Chicago team by saying, "It was very exciting. We lost to them the first game, then won the next two. The games were very close, very intense.''
All the players took the tournament seriously and worked hard to get in shape. They did this by taking part in several tournaments before moving into the championship. These matches were held at the Kutztown State University and the vigorous competition
set them on the right track to tackle the formidable opponents in the tournament.
For all the four players, it has been both a rewarding and a humbling experience to be a part of the Team Rambo squad. Bennet plays as the outside hitter as well as the libero on the team while Dodson is a middle hitter. Steele acts as the right-side hitter
whereas Cunningham takes up the outside hitter position at times.
