Goh Giap Chin, who is one of the most talented players from Malaysia, made his presence felt in the Men’s Singles Group D when he outplayed Soong Joo Ven at the Maybank National Circuit Finals 2012 on Thursday, December 27, in Malaysia.
The lofty Goh Giap, who participated in this tournament as an un-seeded player, showed a wonderful performance and he managed to overpower his country-mate in a reasonable fashion in 38 minutes.

On the other hand, Soong Joo also played to his maximum potential and created pressure on his challenger. However, he failed to put up strong show in the ending points and eventually lost the contest without taking any game.
Right from the opening points of the match, both players put up superb show of top quality badminton and remained close at the initial stage as no one could manage a comfortable lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, both participants continued putting up superb show while staying fully focused and reached at the ending stage without creating a huge gap.
At this stage, Goh Giap played controlled badminton while remaining position and managed to bag the game with a tight margin of 21-19.
Soong Joo was again in all sorts of trouble in the second game as he received a hostile treatment from his rival who was at his best on court.
Goh Giap was in incredible control of the game and he remained successful in managing a reasonable margin until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the tricky and positive play of Goh Giap helped him to stay ahead on the board and he easily wrapped up the second set with a convincing 21-16 score on the board.
