National Circuit GP Finals 2012: Lydia Cheah Li Ya topples Lim Chiew Sien in Women’s Singles Group B
Lydia Cheah Li Ya, an upcoming player from Malaysia, showed a staggering performance on court and she remained successful in beating Lim Chiew Sien in Women’s Singles Group B at Maybank National Circuit GP Finals 2012 on Thursday, December 27, in Malaysia.
The in-form Lydia Cheah, who is the second seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles category in the tournament, was in smashing form as she did not face any problem in winning the battle in just 25 minutes.
Higher ranked Lydia Cheah was on a different level as she was aggressive and positive in the arena and she did not face any trouble in finishing up the contest in straight games with a completely commanding margin.
On the contrary, the lower ranked Lim Chiew was quite helpless against the positive and flawless play of her experienced team-mate. She could not pose even a small threat to her challenger at any stage and bowed down in a lopsided fashion.
In the opening game, both ladies displayed their aggressive skills and played powerful shots from all areas by taking the bird timely.
The score progressed with the same speed from both sides at the early stage as both shuttlers played with tremendous precision and managed to stay close.
Until the one-minute break, Lydia Cheah started to control the pace and managed a reasonable lead of 11-9 until he break.
After the interval, the second seeded Malaysian shuttler played with tremendous precision and started to stretch the gap.
Lydia Cheah did not slow down the pace of the game at any stage and easily bagged the first game with a stunning 21-12 margin on the board.
In the second set, Lydia Cheah played with stunning speed without leaving any room for Lim Chiew to find a good flow.
Until the one-minute interval, the incredible Lydia Cheah remained consistent in playing with command and variations and remained ahead on the board.
Lydia Cheah was calm and composed in the arena in the final points of second set and won the second game with a stunning difference of 21-10.
The impressive Lydia Cheah stayed in commanding position all the way and ended up the contest in straight sets with a stunning 21-12 and 21-10 score on the board.
