National Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championship to be sanctioned by USAV
The National Collegiate Sand Volleyball Association (NCSVA), which is heading into its sixth season, seeks approval from the USA Volleyball (USAV) for its 2012 beach volleyball events.
The volleyball governing authority, the USAV, is likely to sanction the NCSVA events in the coming days but it is not confirmed yet.
The Beach Volleyball World Champion and Olympian Sinjin Smith is the founder of NCSVA. Smith worked out a great name during the days when he was a player. He proved his endeavours in both indoor volleyball and beach volleyball. After serving as a player,
he opted for keeping the tradition alive and laid foundation of National Collegiate Sand Volleyball Association. In acknowledgement to his accomplishments, he was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2003.
Now NCSVA is the only annual national collegiate sand volleyball championship in USA that brings the best men’s and women’s players together and put them to test of skills.
The National Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championship is a set of events, which features several regional competitions. The next edition of the NCSVA is likely to have more than 20 events, which will include eight regional championships. The local organisers
expect to receive more than 200 colleges for the events.
The successful tandems of the NCSVA events will get the chance to participate in the national championship, which is slated for July, 2012. The National Beach Volleyball Championship will be held at Long Beach, California. Also, the players, who compete
at the NCSVA events, get the USA Volleyball national ranking. Hence it would not be wrong to say that the NCSVA championships create a great opportunity for the future superstars of USA Beach Volleyball.
NCSVA is an equal opportunity for aspiring male and female athletes, and college sand volleyball players from any part of America.
The managing director for USA Beach Volleyball, Dave Williams passed healthy remarks about the National Collegiate Sand Volleyball Championship.
He said, “NCSVA is a significant initiative and critical to our beach athlete development pipeline. For collegiate beach volleyball athletes who aspire to play professionally or internationally, this is an excellent place to start.”
