National Do Not Call Registry. Does it work?

and how does it work? we are receiving like 30+ calls a day from telemarketers - will registering really end this?

  1. For the most part yes.  It does not include non-profits.  However, I do get a lot of calls from foreigners who look up your name/business in the phone book.  There is nothing they can do to regulate them.  Give it a try!


  2. Yes and no. The callers are supposed to respect your do-not-call wishes. Some unscrupulous telemarketers might still try calling you.

    Also, keep in mind that political calls (robocalls, solicitations for donations, etc.) are exempt from the Do Not Call Registry for some reason.

    But, I used to get a few calls a day and don't get any since signing up a couple years ago.

  3. new phone books for businesses are constantly produced with ever changing numbers in them. the no call registry does work but it might take a few months for it to settle down completely, as businesses lose your number off their systems. While you wait for it to take effect, if you state to any unwanted caller that you want your details taken off their list they have to do so by law.
