National Golf Club to host Southwest Louisiana Open – Golf news
Adams Golf Pro Tour Series has chosen the National Golf Club of Louisiana as the venue for the Southwest Louisiana Open 2011 which will begin on 23 March, 2011.
The Tour Director of the Adams Pro Tour Series Tyler Wolford confirmed the news in a press conference on Monday in Westlake.
He said, “With a great layout, challenging greens and excellent practice facility, The National has a PGA TOUR-quality feel to it. Our golfers benefit from playing outstanding courses, and The National is among the best.”
He said that the club was chosen for the great honour as it was listed in one of the best courses in the area. In 2010, the beautiful course was named as the ‘Best New Course.’ The par-72 course has 14 lakes and 80 bunkers that increase the challenge. Moreover,
some of the largest and the most difficult greens await the players to hone their skills.
Ron Brown, the General Manager who was present at the occasion said that he was obliged with the honour.
He stated, “We're proud the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series once again chose the National to host this event. Our staff will ensure the course is in top condition and offer a tough but enjoyable test for the competitors.”
He added that he and his team were looking forward to welcoming the players to provide them with the best hospitability ever.
The tournament carrying a purse of US $85,000 will see 100 golfers compete in a 72-hole stroke-play format. There will be a cut after two rounds and only top 35 players will proceed towards the weekend.
Adams Golf Pro Tour series is one of the events that have produced some of the PGA Tour leaders such as Bubba Watson, Ryan Palmer, Cameron Beckman and Jhonattan Vegas.
This is the second consecutive year that the tournament has been organised on this course. This proves that the course is maintaining its standards and if it continues doing that, it will someday attract a major championship to the area.
The tournament will conclude on 26 March and the winner will take home US $15,000 as prize money.
