National Greyhound Association Spring Meet 2011 - Pups Kells Neon Flash, Rico’s Vermillion, Tali Aspen win
Greyhound Hall Of Fame's annual fundraising dinner and auction took place on 19th April 2011 and all proceeds went to the daily upkeep of the Hall Of Fame.
A major good that came out of this auction has been the emergence of great talent. Some of these hounds include Kells Neon Flash, Rico’s Vermillion and Tali Aspen.
Kells Neon Flash’s previous owner and breeder John Dalton sold her to Bradford Bolton for $9,000. Ever since the auction her career has picked up, as she won her fourth consecutive race at Palm Beach this week.
She won her latest race, a Grade C, by finishing 7 lengths ahead of the runner up in a mere 29.71 seconds. Overall she has won five of her five starts. Born in October 2009, she runs for Steve Gilster Kennel and weighs 67 pounds.
There has been more than one puppy from the spring meet that has given stellar performances. Tali Aspen too has had a tremendous career ever since the auction to Terry Scott for $35,000.
At the spring meet she made breeder, Penny Wick, proud by winning her main stake in the fastest time of the meet twice, 30 flat. At her first official schooling, she won by 11 lengths in a time of 30.45 and her next one by 4 lengths in 30.38.
She was the top racer at National Greyhound Association’s (NGA) Spring Meet and made her way into the Tri-State with a Grade A win by 8 lengths on June 13th 2011. Before that too she had been unbeaten in the four races she ran, from her maiden
to AA.
At the Tri-State she finished in second place, losing only to Rico’s Vermillion. She races for Tomblin Kennel. She has not only lived up to her price but also proven that she might have been sold for a price cheaper than she deserved.
Another puppy from the auction that deserves mention is Rico’s Vermillion, daughter of Kiowa Sweet Trey-Gable Vermilion. She too has had an impressive career both before and after the NGA spring meet.
Owned by Ricardo Pacheco she has a brilliant track record of 21 wins, 3 second and 2 third places in 33 of her starts. Running for Williamson Kennel she won the West Virginia Greyhound Owners and Breeders Association (WVGOBA) Juvenile at Tri-State on 7th
May 2011, winning a sum of $35,000.
These Greyhounds and a few others sold at the auction are soaring high towards victory and one hopes they continue to win, providing entertainment to Greyhound racing enthusiasts the world over.
