National Guard question?

Yeah, what exactly do they do...like do they just stay in America?

  2. The National Guard deploys just like Active Duty.  But one thing you have to remember is that National Guard not only mobilizes for deployments overseas, they also mobilize for state aid.  

    During Katrina, there were National Guard units out there along with the Active Duty.

    If you're going to do the "part-time" thing, you should consider the Reserves instead of National Guard unless you plan on staying in the same state you're currently in.  Reason being is because...for example...if you have a job in Florida but you find a sweet job in Georgia, even though it's the next state over you'll need to get a letter of release so you can transfer from Florida to Georgia.

    Just something to consider...
