National Hockey League Apologizing to Fans via Newspaper Ads -NHL Update
After a four-month long lockout that had everyone from fans, players and team owners on the brink with hockey virtually non-existent on the professional level, the National Hockey League (NHL) is now apologizing to their loyal fan base through ads in major
newspapers around North America.
According to sources, the ad is running in nearly 40 newspapers from the United States and Canada combined. These newspapers consist mostly of those that cover each one of the 30 franchises around the continent along with some major ones that are read across
key demographics.
Not only did the NHL apologize to the fans for something that could have been settled a long time back had both sides been willing to compromise, the league also made sure that the lost trust would be recovered through every possible method.
“We are committed to earning back your trust and support the same way it's earned on the ice: with hard work and unwavering dedication. Your cheers drive us forward, and we're committed to making you proud to be a fan -- by delivering a game with the
action, the skill and the intensity you deserve.”
Like you, we've missed NHL hockey. We've missed the clutch goals, the big hits, the electrifying saves. We've missed the flash of the red light, the sound of the siren, and the way the building shakes when the home team scores.” -

The season is set to kick off in a matter days and a 48-game regular season is what fans are looking forward to now. It will definitely be interesting to see the fast paced season with hockey back on track.
With a shortened season, it will be exciting to see which team manages to take the top spot at the end of it all with everyone determined to get back at playing hockey with a bang and their being very little chance of anyone willing to give it up easily.
The first game of the season will be between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday along with Ottawa and Winnipeg and Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings.
