National Hockey League Latest – Edmonton Oilers win 2-1 against New York Islanders
Edmonton Oilers were up against the New York Islanders in the 602nd game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match was played at the Rexall Place with around 17,000 fans coming to visit the match this Thursday. The match was full of
entertainment with a total of 54 goal attempts made in the match. Devan Dubnyk, goalie of the Edmonton Oilers came up with an impressive performance making 30 saves in the match as the Oilers won the match 2-1.
Edmonton Oilers started off in spectacular fashion firing shots on goal right from the start. Not only did they dominate the possession, the home team successfully scored through Gilbert Brule from a wonderful flick shot to take the lead in the 4th
minute.
Edmonton Oilers kept on knocking the door despite taking the lead. Edmonton Oilers determination and hard work paid off immediately as they scored once again to double their lead through Dustin Penner’s goal. The goal was scored through a brilliant backhand
shot.
After taking an early lead, the home team took the foot off the gas which gave the New York Islanders space. They started to make attacks but unfortunately couldn’t score any goals. The period ended with Edmonton Oilers leading 2-0. The period saw Edmonton

The final period saw both teams start of slowly. Patience was the main essence of the strong attacks that were observed but both the teams.
However, no goals were scored as the match and period ended with Edmonton Oilers winning the match 2-1. During the final 20 minutes of play Edmonton Oilers made 7 goal attempts while New York Islanders made 8 goal attempts.
