National Hockey League Latest – San Jose Sharks win 4-2 against the Phoenix Coyotes
Phoenix Coyotes hosted the 679th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series as they were up against the San Jose Sharks. The match took place at the Jobing.com with around 10,000 fans coming to witness the match.
Dany Heatley, winger of San Jose Sharks scored a goal and made a crucial assist which resulted in him being named the player of the player. The match was pretty much even but the San Jose Sharks two goals in the second period proved to be the difference
as San Jose Sharks emerged as 4-2 winners of the match.
San Jose Sharks made a decent start to the match firing shots on goals and coming up with brilliant pieces of play. San Jose Sharks managed to break the deadlock in the 4th minute through Patrick Marleau from a flick shot to take the lead.
Both teams continued to attack and shots flew from everywhere on the pitch. Phoenix Coyotes started to get stronger and stronger with the passage of time. With the positive approach to the game, Phoenix Coyotes successfully scored through Derek Morris from
a powerful strike to level the scores.
The period progressed with both teams making goal attempts regularly but no further goals were scored as the period neared its end. The period ended with the scores level on 1-1 with Sharks making 12 goal attempts while Coyotes made 9 goal attempts.
The second period started period started off with San Jose Sharks making a strong start to the period.
Dany Heatley successfully scored in the 5th minute through a spectacular backhand shot to take the lead. San Jose Sharks piled on attacks after attacks which saw them coming scoring chances regularly. It took some time for the next goal to be
scored but the Sharks doubled the lead with another goal through Logan Couture from a decent strike.
The period ended with San Jose Sharks leading 3-1 as they made 10 goal attempts while Phoenix Coyotes made 12 goal attempts.
Both teams made a great start to the final period as shots flew from everywhere on the pitch and regularly. There were several shots and some brilliant pieces of play were observed during the course of the final period.
Phoenix Coyotes managed to score through Oliver Ekman-Larsson to cut the lead to just one goal in the 13th minute. However, San Jose Sharks successfully scored through Joe Thornton to seal the match in the final period. The period and the match
ended with the San Jose Sharks winning the match 4-2.
