National Hockey League (NHL) Players with most responsibility in the Eastern Conference -Part 4
There are a number of teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), that have a number of talented players on them but for some unclear reason, they still are not able to reach feats which some incapable teams reach. There are many examples throughout the league,
but the most would probably be in the Eastern Conference.
P.K Subban (Defenseman, Montreal Canadiens)
P.K Subban is without a doubt one of the league’s most thrilling defenseman who has been able to contribute unlike any other with the position he plays. Mostly defenseman, especially in their rookie years, focus more on being physical and opening up plays
for other teammates, but Subban is a special case.
In his first season with Montreal after being drafted as the 43rd overall during round-two of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Subban contributed only two points because he managed to participate in only two regular season matchups and spent the remainder
of the season with Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League (AHL).
It seems as if Bulldogs really got his blood pumping as last season the 22-year-old defenseman did not do anything except impress. In 77 games played, the Toronto, Ontario, Canada native, potted an impressive 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists), including a
first hat trick by the franchise’s defenseman.
What Montreal will need from Subban is not only performance but also consistent performance which will gradually help the team grow and progress.
Zach Parise (Forward, New Jersey Devils)
Drafted as the 17th overall pick during round-one of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by New Jersey Devils, Parise has remained one of the franchises top players until recently last season as he managed to play on 13 games due to injury.
His highest season was during 2008-2009 when Parise scored 94 points (45 goals, 49 assists) by playing all 82 games and finishing off with a plus-minus rating of 30. The 2009-2010 season was also good for the 27-year-old as he scored 82 points (38 goals,
44 assists) in 81 games but due to missing last season, New Jersey failed to make their first playoff season in over 10 years.
Now that he is back and healthy on the roster, Parise will surely be tested as to whether he is the same player as he was when leaving to injury or has he changes, which would require New Jersey to find an immediate replacement.
To be continued in part 5....
