National Hockey League (NHL) top forwards today – Part 9
Joe Thornton
Much was expected from the San Jose Sharks at the start of the season keeping in mind their last two campaigns. They were seen as strong contenders for the title but they have been very disappointing so far.
Currently, things aren’t looking to get better for the Sharks who are sitting in the 12th position in the league. Though they have won two games currently but they haven’t been consistent so far. Joe Thornton is one if not the main reason for
this. But we can’t entirely blame him as he can’t carry the entire team on his shoulders. However, there is a very amazing fact about the Sharks this season that whenever Joe Thornton has played well and made assists and scored goals; the Sharks have emerged
as winners most of the times.
Joe Thornton or more popularly known as “Jumbo Thornton” is one of the most talented and diverse players in the league who has proved his worth for the team time after time. Even though he has scored 44 points in the league so far, but with the Sharks coming
up with the results they are not accustomed of coming across Joe Thornton is certainly the man to look to solve this problem. He is one of the strong forwards in the league who is starting to find some consistency and expect him to be competing for the top
forwards in the league once he gets going.
Pavel Datsyuk
Pavel Datsyuk is one of the unique players in the league who can play as a very strong forward and is very handy in defence as well. Though some might say that he is a defenceman but he is a forward mainly who looks to score goals every now and then. It
is just part of his love for the game that he goes back and defends.
Last time out, he won the Selke Award for his hard work and once he returns, expect him to continue on the same roads impressing people from all around the NHL world. Many say that he is in a very strong position to win the award this year too. The phenomenal
rate at which he has bagged despite playing defending frequently is quite remarkable.
Datsyuk has played 33 games in the season so far which have seen him bag a huge 39 points and played a major part in Detroit Red Wings success this season as the compete for the top spot in the league.
Jeff Carter
Jeff Carter is one of the main players in the Philadelphia Flyers who has scored a lot of goals in the season and put the Flyers in the position where they are currently. Though some might say he lacks a little in the technical department but with the clinical
goals he has scored so far in the season, he has shown that he has a lot of talent and skill.
Jeff Carter is one of the most productive players in the Flyers roster and has scored 44 points in the season so far out of which 23 are goal points which is brilliant. The Flyers currently lead the Eastern Conference and are looking to finish top of the
league as well. If the Flyers are looking at the Finals then Jeff Carter needs to continue on what he has been so far.
