The National Hockey League (NHL) will be showcasing some great games on Saturday, January 7th, as 26 teams take to the rink against each other for 13 exciting matchups.
The time to secure the final playoff spots is fast approaching, day by day, and this is the time for heroes to step up and take their team to the next stage.
We at Bettor.com will provide a complete round-up of each fixture to help you keep up with all the action coming your way from the NHL.
1. Vancouver Canucks vs Boston Bruins
Every National Hockey League fan will be drooling at the prospect of witnessing a rematch of the 2010 Stanley Cup Finalists. Even though the final game of the series was marred by riots in Vancouver the game itself was one of the most exciting fixtures in
the National Hockey League.
The Bruins are facing the Canucks for the first time since that Stanley Cup final and both teams have some unfinished business to take care off.
The Bruins early in the season had one of the worst starts by any defending Stanley Cup Champion but have returned to form at just the right time. The Bruins have a 26-10-1 record and 53 points to lie second in the Eastern Conference.
The Canucks are top of the Western Conference with a 25-13-3 record and 53 points. Both teams come into the game on the back of victories in their last match but the Bruins have the statistical advantage as they rank first in the NHL in goals per game with
3.6 and also top in defence allowing only 1.8 goals per game to the opposition.
2. Ottawa Senators vs Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers will be hoping for a much easier game than the 5-4 overtime win on Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Flyers will face off against the Ottawa Senators who are on a four game winning streak and defeated Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 on Thursday.
The Senators have had a good week with four of their players voted in for the All-Star game roster and their current form will make things very hard for the Flyers.
The Canadians have a 21-15-5 record with 47 points and are fifth in the Eastern Conference three points behind the Flyers who have a 23-11-4 record and 50 points.
3. Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars are just within reach of the playoff spots in the Western Conference and now victories are crucial if they want to make it to the postseason. The Stars will face an Edmonton Oilers side that has lost two games in a row and is ripe for the
taking.
The Stars are just two points behind Colorado Avalanche who occupy the final playoff spot and a victory over the Oilers will put them on equal points with Colorado.
Dallas Stars have a 22-16-1 record and 45 points after winning 4-1 over the Nashville Predators on Thursday. The Oilers who have no hope of making the playoff rounds are 16-21-3 with 35 points.
4. Columbus Blue Jackets vs Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings will be happy with their fixture against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets are bottom of the Western Conference with a poor 10-24-5 record and just 25 points from 40 games.
The Kings are favourites from the win and a victory over the Blue Jackets will help the Kings consolidate their 7th spot in the Western Conference and put some daylight between themselves and the chasing Colorado Avalanche.
The Kings have a 20-14-7 record and 47 points currently.
5. Winnipeg Jets vs Buffalo Sabres
The Winnipeg Jets will look to snap their two game losing streak against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. The Jets are just two points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs who are eighth in the Eastern Conference with 45 points.
The Jets have a 19-16-5 record and 43 points when they will face the Buffalo Bills who are 18-18-4 with 40 points.
The Jets have lost four games in a row on the road and the Sabres will provide a good opportunity to the Jets to end that run.
6. Detroit Red Wings vs Toronto Maple Leafs
The Detroit Red Wings are fourth in the Western Conference and will take on Eastern Conference’s eighth placed Toronto Maple Leafs side who have won their previous two games.
The Red Wings have had a good season and look set to reach the post season with a 25-13-1 record and 51 points are in good knick winning their previous two games.
The Maple Leafs still do not have a confirmed starting goal tender this season and occupy the final Eastern Conference Playoff spot with a 20-15-5 record and 45 points.
