National Hockey League Updates – Anaheim Ducks win 7-4 against the St. Louis Blues
The final game of Wednesday saw the Anaheim Ducks play host to the St. Louis Blues in the 645th game of the season. The match was played at the Honda Centre with around 13,000 fans coming to witness the match. The match was expected to see St.
Louis Blues come out strong but the Anaheim Ducks turned the tables right from the start of the match scoring three goals in the opening period. The match in the end saw the Anaheim Ducks win the match 7-4. Bobby Ryan was named the star selection of the match
for the hat-trick he scored and the assist he made.
Anaheim Ducks started the match stronger of the two teams as they attacked right from the word go and kept possession. The home team gave the fans something to cheer about as early as the 4th minute with Bobby Ryan scoring to put the Ducks in
the lead.
Anaheim Ducks continued to dominate the game and came across scoring chances. Anaheim Ducks successfully bagged their second goal in the 8th minute scored by Jason Blake. After the goal both teams opted for a mild strategy in which they defended
and made attacks as well. However, Anaheim Ducks completed the dominating performance in the period with another goal in the 19th minute scored by Bobby Ryan from a brilliant backhand shot.
Anaheim Ducks led 3-0 going into the break as they made 9 goal attempts in the period while the St. Louis Blues made 5 goal attempts.
St. Louis Blues totally dominated the second period defending and attacking superbly. St. Louis Blue with the strong attacks managed to score in the 4th minute through David Backes. A few minutes later Backes scored once again to cut the lead
to just one goal.
There were several chances for the St. Louis Blues to level the scores but this didn’t happen as Anaheim Ducks still 3-2 at the end of the second period. During the period, St. Louis Blues made 16 goal attempts while Anaheim Ducks made 7 goal attempts.
The final period saw Anaheim Ducks demolish the St. Louis Blues as they scored managed to score two goals in the opening 10 minutes. The first of which was scored by Bobby Ryan who completed his hat-trick while the second was scored by Corey Perry.
However, Anaheim Ducks weren’t done as yet despite leading 5-2. They continued to attack and combining excellently, Anaheim Ducks managed to score two more goals in the next seven minutes of the period.
The first was scored by Lubomir Visnovsky from a powerful strike in the 14th minute. A few minutes later, in the 16th minute Brandon McMillan scored from a tip in shot to take the score to 7-2. St. Louis Blues came up with late resistance
which saw them scoring in the 17th minute through Ryan Reaves and in the 18th minute through Brad Boyes from a long range powerful strike but it was a little too late.
The period and the match ended with Anaheim Ducks winning the match 7-4. During the final period, Anaheim Ducks made 9 goal attempts while St. Louis Blues made 12 goal attempts.
