National Hockey League Updates – Carolina Hurricanes win 5-3 against the Florida Panthers

Florida Panthers playing host to the Carolina Hurricanes was the second game of Friday. The match was played at the Bank Atlantic Centre with around 14,000 fans coming to witness the 606th game of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere Series. The match
was very entertaining as the scores were level on 2-2 going into the final period but Carolina Hurricanes turned the tables and emerged as 5-3 winners of the match. Jeff Skinner, centre of the Carolina Hurricanes was the star selection of the match as he scored
two crucial goals and an assist.
Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes both were quick out of the blocks. Early on Florida Panthers being the home side took advantage of this and successfully scored through David Booth from a wrap around shot to take the lead in the 2nd minute.
Carolina Hurricanes responded to this with attacks too but unfortunately, they were caught on a counter attack which resulted in the Panthers doubling their lead in the 13th minute through Marty Reasoner’s tip in shot.
Both teams had several more goal scoring opportunities but they failed to capitalize as the period ended with Florida Panthers leading 2-0, as they made 13 goal attempts while Carolina Hurricanes made 10 goal attempts.
Carolina Hurricanes came out determined to score and the hard work they put in, they were rewarded for it immediately with a goal. The goal was scored by Jeff Skinner in the 2nd minute from a brilliant strike.
Though this time Florida Panthers had quite a few goal scoring chances, they failed to convert any of these into goals. However, Carolina Hurricanes managed to level the scores as Jeff Skinner scored once again in the 11th minute through a superb
tip in shot.
The period ended with no further goals and the scores level on 2-2. During the course of the period, Carolina Hurricanes made 13 goal attempts while Florida Panthers made 11 goal attempts.
Carolina Hurricanes came out in the final period hungry for goals and they positive approach to the games resulted in the away side scoring in the 10th minute taking the lead through Eric Staal’s goal.
Both teams started to attack with a few minutes of the match remaining. This resulted in shots flying from everywhere on the pitch. Carolina doubled their lead through Erik Cole’s goal in the 18th minute. Carolina Hurricanes scored their final
goal through Erik Cole once again in the 20th minute.
Florida Panthers also scored through Marty Reasoner’s tip in shot as Carolina Hurricanes won the match 5-3.
