National Hockey League Updates – Dallas Stars win 4-2 against the defending champions, Chicago Blackhawks
Defending Champions who are currently struggling in the league hosted the 594th game of the regular season as they were up against the Dallas Stars. The match was played this Wednesday at the United Centre with around 21,000 fans coming to attend
the match. Mike Rebeiro proved to be the difference maker in the match as he scored two goals and was named star selection of the match. Dallas Stars won the match 4-2.
Dallas Stars took advantage of the slow start made by Chicago Blackhawks. They attacked and kept possession for quite some time which didn’t give the defending champions any chance of settling. Dallas was able to convert some of the chances they got.
With the domination early on and hard work, Dallas Stars managed to score through Brenden Morrow from a flick shot in the 3rd minute. Continuing to pile pressure of the Hawks defence, they successfully got past it once again and scored in the
8th minute through Mike Ribeiro from a tip in shot to double their lead.
Chicago Blackhawks had the share of the chances in the later stages of the match. They could have very well scored two or three goals but unfortunately didn’t score any goals. The period ended with Dallas Stars leading 2-0. During the course of the period,
Dallas Stars made 11 goal attempts while Chicago Blackhawks made 12 goal attempts.
Dallas Stars continued to carry on the domination in the early part of the second period. While attacking, they left open spaces at the back and the Hawks started to exploit that. Realizing this, Chicago started to dominate the game and successfully scored
in the 10th minute through Fernando Pisani. The home team, much to the delight of the fans scored once again through Tomas Kopecky from a backhand shot to level the scores.
There were several more goal scoring opportunities but no goals were scored as the period ended with the scores level on 2-2. During the 20 minutes of play, Dallas Stars made 5 goal attempts while Chicago Blackhawks made 15 goal attempts.
Both teams came out determined to score and attacked right from the word go. However, it was Dallas who scored the first goal in the 11th minute through Mike Ribeiro to take the lead. Dallas continued to make goal attempts as did the Hawks.
Dallas sealed the match with a goal from Steve Ott in the final minute. The period and match ended with Dallas Stars winning the match 4-2.
