National Hockey League and NHL Players’ Association official meet to end the dispute
National Hockey League (NHL) and NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) officials met on Friday to discuss the future of the league and find out the solution of the ongoing dispute which has resulted in a lockout of the game.
According to report, the officials of both parties met in Toronto, Canada at the union offices as there were Bill Daly, the deputy commissioner of the NHL, joined by Gary Bettman, the commissioner of the league. Whereas the NHLPA was  represented by Executive
director Donald Fehr and the union counsel Steve Fehr.
Reports were made by Bill Daly, who told ESPN.com that there was nothing else to report. This had been sent to ESPN via email.
According to different sources both the parties are asking each other to come up with something else. NHL wants NHLPA to change the offer and come up with the different proposal whereas NHLPA has asked NHL to do the same as none of them is looking to compromise
and both are being stubborn by not coming to one solution.
It was also unknown that both counterparts Daly and Steve Fehr have talked to each other on the phone and they have decided to meet once again to find the solution. Whereas it is also expected that senior counterparts, Bettman and Donald Fahr will also speak
to each other on the phone.
2005 NHL season was also cancelled because of a lockout and now it is happening once again, as pre-season and the first two weeks of the regular season have been cancelled. A lot of foreign players are going back to their countries and some American/ Canadian
players are also moving towards European countries like Sweden, Finland and Russia.
Assistant Commissioner, Bill Daly issued a statement on Thursday in which he mentioned that he is sorry for all the fans who are eager to watch the action and he knows that players, owners and a lot of people are losing a lot in ongoing episode, as he said,
"We were extremely disappointed to have to make today's announcement. The game deserves better, the fans deserve better, and the people who derive income from their connection to the NHL deserve better”.
