National Hockey League could cancel some more games as the officials of NHL and NHLPA meet
The officials of the National Hockey League and NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) were set to meet on Tuesday to discuss the future of the league, but it is expected that the NHL would cancel some more weeks of the competition.
According to the reports, NHL has already cancelled the games for the first two weeks, till 24th October and now if they cancel the games for next four weeks as well, it would mean that there would be no NHL games till the 21st of November.
It would also mean that there would be danger of the NHL All Star game getting cancelled out as well, which would be played on the 27th of January in the city of Columbus.
When there was a NHL lockout last time in 2004-2005 season, the All Star Game was cancelled on the 3rd of November but so far this year’s game has not been cancelled and there is no news about it.
Both of the parties seem to be doing efforts for the beginning of the new season and the restoration of the league but they do not seem to compromise on their demands as well. They have been meeting in the mean time but few hours of meetings and discussions
on the phone calls have not been able to find a solution of the problem so far.
Players are continuously moving towards European countries and outside America to play in the other leagues and to keep them self busy during the lockout. And it makes it difficult for lockout to end soon because it would take many more days in players getting
back to their teams and positions immediately.
Right now, both of the NHL and NHLPA officials are looking at each other to make an offer as both seem to have made their offers sufficient times and not looking to make one again.
NHL has made several offers in last few meetings but none of them could satisfy NHLPA, who have not made an offer them self since 13th of the August. They think they have made their stance clear and their counterparts know what they want.
