National Hockey League injury report for the third week of March Part 2
Continuing on the discussion of injuries that occurred throughout the national hockey league during the third week of March, Malhotra has really hit a decisive moment in his career.
He’s in his recovery stages at the moment, and it’s not certain when he’ll be able to return since at his age, injuries like these become career finishers, but there is still hope.
Malhotra extends the list of many Canucks’ players who have nearly halted their team’s ability to perform like they once did early in the season.
Thursday brought good news for Anaheim Ducks who were struggling to remain anywhere near the playoff’s elite-eight, but now are standing on the edge after a tough climb to tie it with Dallas with 85 points.
In their match against St. Louis on Thursday, goalie, Ray Emery, returned to play for his team after more than a year off because of a major hip surgery. After returning on Feb 1, 2010, Emery showed that he hasn’t lost any of his talent, making 30 rejections,
almost shutting out Blues at 2-1.
They might soon be witnessing the return of their All-Star goalie, Jonas Hiller, who was also sidelined by Ducks during Emery’s incident because of dizziness and the threat of concussion related problems.
Dallas was deprived of two of their key defensemen, Nicklas Grossman, who was playing his fifth game after returning from an 11 day resting period due to a hip injury, and, Karlis Skrastins.
Both left during the end of the second period and are reported to have had lower-body injuries so their return has not been finalized.
Dallas Stars couldn’t have lost them at a worse time and they’ve nearly fallen out of the playoff race after losing to Flyers on Friday, tied now with Ducks for eighth in the tight Western Conference.
San Jose Sharks’ Canadian rookie, Logan Couture, went out in the game on Saturday at home against Blues. It was an apparent leg injury which was caused by him slamming into the end boards, falling down immediately.
He was checked by the team’s medical staff and taken to the locker room by fellow teammates.
Couture’s been officially been placed on a day-to-day basis check-up.
He is one of San Jose’s most consistent players, setting a franchise record for scoring 27 goals in his first season along with 21 assists.
Sharks are playing extremely well this season, and Couture is an important winning factor for them.
Calgary’s a team which has showed visible decline after some of the franchise’s main players like David Moss and Brendan Morrison were injured.
They’ve also lost veteran player, Craig Conroy, this year due to his early retirement, and they haven’t been themselves since then.
At the end it’s not how well you perform, but it’s rather how well you perform as a team. Team chemistry is everything when it comes to winning, not just talent.
