National Insurance Number: I need your help PLEASE IT'S IMPORTANT

Question

hi, a few weeks ago, I lost my national insurance number. What should I do? Which number should I call to signalize the loss? I have a problem, I'm living in Italy right now, can I have an other one here or I have to go to London ??? please help meee it's important!

contact the tax office with as much info about yourself as possible, they should be able to help.

get someone to find an old payslip maybe, your parents? do you mean forgot the number?

You mean you NI Card>? You don't need it anyway, if you have can't remember your number you need to visit a Jobcentre Plus office with two pieces of ID like your birth certificate and passport and they will tell you what it is, they wont do it over the phone

It is the DWP (via Jobcentre Plus) that issue your NI Number not HMRC

Well i remember when i got my national insurance number in april that you can only get one replacement card "so take care of it". Its says on this site

Report it to your nearest DWP office, Social Security office in Northern Ireland or Inland Revenue office. If you want a replacement card you will need to complete an application form. Remember, you are only allowed one replacement.

You cant ring anynumbers as you have to call into one of the above offices.

google inland revenue and you can report your card lost over the internet and they can send a new one to you, its no worry little dudette i have lost mine loads and loads of times.

What do you want it for? Do you mean you lost the actual card that has the number on it? I lost this 20 years ago!

You're number should be on documents like payslip, tax forms etc or ask a previous employer.

Call the tax office and ask them for another one. They only ever distribute two to each person, and from then on you just have to remember the number, so be careful with this one.
