National Treasure-the movie?

I keep seeing this movie on TV yet I always miss the first 20 minutes. How do Riley Poole and Ben Gates meet? Do they know each other from some where or is this never explained?

they were already friends from before... it never explained what and y but all it said was that they have been friends forever and great family friends and they worked together 2.

yeah it starts by them all being in Antarctica they all were there together never explained and they the main person found a flute and he read what was engraved in it and found out there was a ship under them named the Charlotte and they got to the town and try to find the third.
