  1. Land of hope and glory.

The national anthem is tired and dreary.

  2. It will change when we have a king to God Save The King!!

  3. Don't worry soon the words will change to -  God save the King!

I think England like the rest of the world will get rid of their royalty. When Chuck or Wills come to the thrown.

I believe it should be more about the country not the queen or king!

  4. Rule Britannia

  5. Definitely , It's outdated. It was originally written for a german. It's second verse insults the scots. And most people don't believe in god anyway It makes no mention of the country or the people.

I think there should be a competition for a new song..

  6. Yes, it should be "Jerusalem" (William Blake) or "Land of hope and glory" (sir Edward Elgar).....

  7. Ya to god save our ruby

  8. It is a question that has been asked for some time now. As a Royalist I would like to stick with the National Anthem however I do recognise that there are a number of rousing hymns out there which would also do the country proud.

What I find  strange are all those supporters at England football matches who can be heard singing the National Anthem throughout the game to spur the team on and to show how proud they are of being English. I would hazard a guess and say many of them are not supporters of the Monarchy yet they sing the National Anthem.

I'm not that old (43) but I can remember being at a show production (as a child) and at the end everyone stood and sang the National Anthem, you rarely see that these days.

As much as I like the song Land of Hope and Glory I feel it hardly describes the country we live in today?!.  Jerusalem is a stirring tune I admit.

  9. I have nothing against the Queen, but the song isn't really inspiring.

We should have the one of the obvious ones already mentioned: Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem or Rule britannia.

  10. I'd like the theme tune from Coronation street.

  11. Yes, stick with God Save the Queen, just use the s*x Pistols version

  12. The time of God and the time of the monarchy is at a close.

  13. Why not a Royal anthem and a National Anthem. Most of the Commonwealth has it that way

  14. Land of Hope and Glory. Have a Royal anthem for when the Queen attends but we need a different one for the country. Jerusalem is inapproprate for the UK because it mentions "England's green and pleasant Land", "Rule Britannia" is also inapprorpriate because Britain doesn't include Northern Ireland.

  15. Anthems always have to include a reference to God, but I'm not religious, so how about something that doesn't refer to God? And then what about those who don't believe in diversity? Something that excludes 'foreigners'? Who will make the choice? Will you let politicians? Will you let school children - they seem to get an enormous amount of say. Countries don't just change anthems or flags or constitutions. It's silly and divisive. It tries to deny thousands of years of history because some people don't care about anything before their birth.

There are more important issues in society. How about homelessness? When did you last help a homeless person out? When did you last visit a sick person in hospital or volunteer at a soup kitchen?

  16. Your Queen needs saving, from a bore like Charles....She must be worried sick to abdicate, like Beatrix may choose to and like her mum did.... God save king Charles, I do not believe this one for a second. But what about William and his girlfriends.... ..... Harry acts the part of defiance. Angry young man..... Perhaps make a Good king after all. Anthem???? Surely.... ``The Stonehenge Stone Monument of our Ancient Bond.``  Words along that line....... Do not forget about the hands of the King....

    Healing

  17. Yes something uplifting that doesn't mention the queen.

  18. Isabel Makes Love Upon National Monuments...by Jake Thackray.  It celebrates many national landmarks and it's funny.

  19. no,the world looks to g.b. for stability.dont mend it if it aint broke.
