National coach Tey Seu Bock optimistic for Lee Chong Wei’s presence in upcoming Axiata Cup

Malaysia’s Singles national coach Tey Seu Bock is optimistic that Lee Chong Wei will participate in the upcoming Axiata Cup, an invitational team-event tournament, which will kick off from March 23, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The World Number One Chong Wei suffered with a shoulder injury in the Men’s Singles final match of All England Open Premier Super Series 2012 and had to stop playing in the second set against China’s Lin Dan.
However, according to Seu Bock, the injury is not threatening and Chong Wei is expected to resume training soon and is also expected to help Malaysian team to win the Axiata Cup, which is the richest team-event championship that offers $1 million.
Chong Wei also skipped last week’s Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold in order to recover from his injury and will be back in action as soon as he gets the permission of doctors.
While talking about Chong Wei’s current condition, Seu Bock said that it is much better now and there is nothing to be worried about as the shuttler will be back on court soon.
He said, “The pain in his shoulder is not so bad now. Although he’s not back in training yet, he can swing his racquet and the pain doesn’t really affect him that much. It would be better if he didn’t suffer any injuries ahead of the Olympics but this is
something which can’t really be helped.”
However, Seu Bock also expressed that the injury came at a time when Chong Wei has ample time to recover before Olympic Games.
The coach also said that if the shuttler feels good, he will participate in Axiata Cup and also in India Open Super Series, where he will defend his title.
Seu Bock said, “It’s a good thing that he got the injury now as there is still plenty of time for him to recover. If he’s fit, he’ll also compete in the Axiata Cup and the India Open.”
Chong Wei remained lucky as his injury is not severe because he wants to remain hundred percent fit before Olympic Games in a bid to win Malaysia’s first ever gold medal in this mega event.
