National coach Tey Seu Bock says Lee Chong Wei needs to remain focused to win Denmark Open
Malaysia’s Singles national coach, Tey Seu Bock wants Lee Chong Wei to remain fully focused to win the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series, which will take place at Odense, Denmark, from October 18-23.
The 28-year-old Chong Wei, who is currently World Number One in the Men’s Singles world standings, needs to look forward instead of dwelling at the past. It has been almost two months when he lost the final match to Lin Dan of China at the 2011 World Championships.
The top seed is still not in the right order of mind as he lost the final of last week’s Japan Open Super Series to a lower ranked Chinese shuttler, Chen Long. Talking about the condition of Chong Wei, Seu Bock said, “He was not in the right frame of mind
at the Japan Open. But he will be back to his best form for the Denmark Open.”
Both Lin and Long will be present to clinch the title at the Denmark Open. Chong Wei is the top seed in the Men’s Singles draw and is placed at the top of the upper half. On the other hand, second seed Lin is placed at the bottom of the lower half.
Seu Bock expressed that a same situation like Japan Open can happen in the semi-final of Denmark Open, where both Chinese will meet in the semi-final match. The coach also indicated that he will not be surprised if they anyone concedes a walkover to favour
his team mate, as it happened in last week’s Japan Open.
The coach said, “Lin Dan will most likely go through this time and I wouldn’t be surprised if Chen Long concedes a walkover. However, Chong Wei will be ready for them this time, even if either one is well rested for a final showdown.”
The Denmark Open will be the 10th tournament of the year for Chong Wei. He has been playing tremendous badminton so far, as he has qualified for the finals of all events he has participated in. He won six titles in nine months so far, and is looking
for his seventh scalp in the upcoming Denmark Open.
