  1. In the National Guard, you generally do not get "stationed" in other states.  When you sign up to join, you go through a database of job listings within a certain radius of your Home of Record that you can pick from.  You join the National Guard of your state, though you can always move states if you so desire.  But when he joins, he will go to Basic Training, AIT, and then come back home to lead a normal civilian life with drill one weekend a month.  Depending on what Guard unit he joins, he will still be pretty close to home so do not worry about having to move with him.

If you have any more questions about it, feel free to IM or e-mail me.  I am in the Texas Army National Guard and loving it.

  2. doesn't make much sense to me in the guard you stay in your state.. unless he has some highly qualified mos.. but I'm sure they can make arrangements.. hmm.. the guard is part time so he shouldn't get stationed anywhere..

  3. If he joins the National Guard he's joining in the state where he lives. National Guard duty after training is one weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer. If he got activated it would be to work a disaster in his state or be deployed overseas. In either case you couldn't go with him.
