National guard promotion?

well soon I will be overseas but im still curious about promotion to e5. About six days ago I ask the training nco to see if I'm eligible for promotion. He told me once I pass the pt test come see him and I did. He still hasn't checked and I think it's because I have active duty time and they don't want me to be higher than some of the other soldiers. Is there anway I can just do things by myself? Somehow find out if I'm eligible and turn my points in. This unit doesn't respect soldiers who have been to combat before and were E4 team leaders.

  1. You need to see your squad leader/ platoon sergeant about this problem. Usually the promotion packets go through your unit administrator/ S1 personnel. You need to be asking when the next promotion board is going to be held, and if your not recommended your squad leader has to give you a counseling statement explaining why not. If they don't do any of this for you and your platoon sgt doesn't do anything, go to your first sergeant. If he won't do anything, see the commander. If he won't do anything, go to IG.... You'll get some real answers if you do that.

They should be writing you monthly counseling statements anyways to keep you informed. If they don't, you are being failed....
