National guard rotc?

i just have a couple questions about rotc...im already in the national guard..im thinking about doing rotc..when i join rotc, will i have the choices to go to any branch or will i have to stay army. like go to the navy or marines as an officer..thanks

  1. Army, Air Force and Navy (Marine) all have there own ROTC programs. So you would have to go through the ROTC branch that you want to serve in. So yes you have the choice of which branch you want to go in as an officer.

    I am assuming you want to go through Army ROTC, since your in the Army National Guard.

    You can go through Army ROTC and stay in the National Guard through the SMP Program. In this you will get paid E-5 pay and drill as a Cadet and be giving a new PMOS as a 09 R (Officer Trainee).

    During your ROTC application / interview you will be able to choose if you will want to go Active Duty, or stay in the National Guard. If you stay in the National Guard, you can choose which branch you want to get commissioned as, IE Infantry, Armor, Engineer. If you go active duty, you get to put together a wish list of your branch choices, and typically you get one of your top three.

    So find a college that has ROTC for whatever service you want to join.
