national insurance changes coming into effect - NI credits HRPwill only cover the mother until the child is 12 instead of 16 or when the child leaves education. also despite having opted to pay the full contributions instead of opting for the lower married womans contributions a mother will now have to work until she is 65 instead of 60 as in the clauses of paying the higher rate. Is this going ahead or does it need to be voted in by parliament?

  1. Thanks for pointing this out - as a mother of a large family this will affect me, but I can't find any info anywhere - not even on the Direct.gov.uk website

  2. The increase in retirement age to 65 for women was approved by Parliament some years ago and is now law: it is being introduced in stages.  arrried women have not been able to opt out of paying full NIC for years now.  I don't know about NI credits, though.
