Nationalism?

what impact does nationalism have on our world?

Just depends.  When 9/11 happened in the U.S. it impacted us in a big way but not so much other countries.  No one wants anything bad to happen to them or their group, country, etc. so when something happens  to one country it seems that other countries help because they don't want it happening to them and if it did they want other countries to help them out.

Nationalism has been the precursor to war in several historic occasions. In particular WWI & WWII. Recently Nationalism has sparked conflicts within the Middle East, the former Soviet Union, Kosovo, Bosnia, Croatia and Albania. I would even go so far as to say that the War in Iraq is in great part due to American Nationalism. The impact on our planet is quite destructive. Although we aren't there yet, the only real "nationalism" will occur when humans realize that there is only one planet Earth (we all live here), and it cannot sustain such destructive and petty disputes over ideological differences forever.

Hitler and stalin  used Nationalsim as a way of spurring on national pride within their countriesNationalsm was used to vent anger against the Allies , versailles treaty and its reparations for the Germans and  for Stalin it was used as a ploy to rid Russia of teh n**i's who invaded.

If its used in the wrong hands it can be very dangerous, or it can be good ,pending its circumstances.
