Nationwide Tour changes to Web.com Tour, announces Tim Finchem
The PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem has made an announcement of changing the Nationwide Tour to Web.com Tour because of the recent sponsorship agreement with the company.
He was talking to the PGA Tour website and told that the tour has made an agreement with the company for the next 10 years. Accordingly, the company will use its name with the tour until the year 2021.
In addition to that, the company will also be the marketing partner for the tour for the specified time period.
“We are delighted to announce this morning that effective immediately, the Nationwide Tour will become the Web.com TOUR, through a 10-year agreement, which extends through the 2021 season,” he said on Thursday, at the Congressional Country Club, the venue
for this week’s AT&T National.
“In addition to the umbrella sponsorship of this Tour, Web.com has, as well, entered into a 100-year agreement to become an official marketing partner of the TOUR. So they will sponsor the TOUR and also have a partnership directly with the TOUR,” he added.
This is not the first time that Finchem has made an important announcement in the past one year.
At the end of the 2011 golf season, he made an announcement regarding the extension of broadcasting rights for the next 10 years. Thereafter, he extended a contract with FedEx for the FedEx Cup standings.
Therefore, it was another milestone achieved by the tour officials. Plans to take the production and sales of PGA Tour’s official website and other digital platforms in-house at the end of the year are also in the pipeline.
At the PGA Tour’s media centre, Finchem was accompanied by the Chairman, President and CEO of Web.com, David Brown, who expressed his pleasure over the partnership with the PGA Tour.
David Brown said that the PGA Tour motivates young golfers to come ahead and play professional golf. In the same way, Web.com helps small businesses to make the maximum use of internet for their benefit.
Web.com is known for its internet services and online marketing services for small and medium-sized businesses in the United States. Primarily, the company’s target market is United States, however, it also operates in different parts of the world.
