Holy cow has anyone ever heard of these dogs? I never seen them on any list of hypoallergenic dogs, but they look like wolves, and everything I keep reading states that even though they shed, they produce less dander and people with allergies can have them. Is this true, or is it all bullshit?

  1. Well as far as I've heard the concept of a "Native American Indian Dog" itself is bull****. Supposedly when it becomes illegal to sell wolf hybrids people picked up the new name as a loophole.

Which is actually rather irresponsible if buyers are not aware of needing to keep in mind the risks in regard to possible behavior and reactions to situations, or what might develop later on.

  2. NO DOG IS 100% GUARANTEED NOT TO PRODUCE ALLERGIES!

    1. NEVER BUY A PUPPY just LOOKS, colour along, fur type-COLOUR, fur type and looks HAS NO INDICATION OF DOGS TEMPERMENT!

    2. Consider your lifestyle-

    4. Are you out more then 8hours a day

    5. Consider your energy requirements, Size, Grooming.

    6. Don't just buy because someone says this is the

dog for you, people particular on yahoo answer will give you there particular favourite breed& what suits them, not what actually suit you.

    7. Read all you can-THERE are alot of false information on the web and in books about different dog breed.

8 DON'T TRUST THOSE DOG BREED SELECTORS-MOST OF THE RESULTS ARE INCORRECT. Ex i search large breed dogs, and the Pomeranian came up, which of cause is a toy dog breed!!

    9. NEVER BUY FROM A PETSTORE, BACKYARD BREEDER, PUPPY MILL OR NEWSPAPER, DON'T BUY FROM NEXT DAY PETS OR DOG BREED INFO, RESCUE AN ADULT DOG OR SHELTER PUPPY!

    The American Indian Dog Hoax

If you're looking to buy a dog, beware of dogs that are advertised as being authentic American Indian Dogs. This website warns that there's no such thing, because the dog breeds that crossed the Bering Straits with humans thousands of years ago have since disappeared, having interbred with other dog breeds. Though an article in National Geographic claims that there just may be one breed of dog living wild in South Carolina swamps that's directly descended from those ancient American dogs.

The Native American Indian Dog's intelligence level is extremely high. They are highly trainable and eager to please their human companions. They are loyal and protective of their families and some may be shy with strangers, but are totally dedicated to their human owners. Native American Indian Dog's are sensitive animals. They are very good with children and other animals, including other dogs, household pets as well as livestock. Usually a stern "NO" will stop them in their tracks. They are extremely versatile animals bred to work as in pulling a sled or hunting whatever game you choose them to hunt. This breed does not do well in a crate for crate training or housebreaking. They do much better and are happier if you enclose them in a room with a tile floor and put newspapers down and every day move the papers closer to the door way of the room you have them locked in. Most people find that if they put their pup outside (even in the winter) in a small pen with a dog house, in a month of so the pups are automatically house broke if they bring them in to visit the family

    Note:

There are many folks who claim original native dogs are extinct and have been since before the invention of photography. They claim any dog sold as an Indian dog is a recreation. The Dog Breed Info Center® does not know which the case may be. The information above is what we were told from Native Indian Dog breeders about this breed.

  3. its bullshit.

  4. I came across the breed on a hypoallergenic breed list, what I read of them is that they shed only once a year and create a bit less dander. Different peoples allergies are different, the only way to know for sure is visit the breeder unfortunately this is a rare breed so you'll probably be traveling out of state and paying a mint.

  5. Native American Indian Dog??? Yeah, sounds like a line of c**p to me! And anything that "looks like a wolf" probably sheds like one - ever been near wolves? Yeah, they shed like mad and they are dirtier than your dirtiest dog!
