Question:

Native English speakers, what annoys you about US English the most?

Inspired by Ian S' answer to a question about SA languages, I thought about asking this one. Personally speaking, I hate the way Americans make everything into a continuous form (-ing), like "I am liking what you are wanting to say", or "Are you loving it?"- all wrong in the English language. Whither goes this fad and where shall it see an end? :)

It also annoys me the way they abuse the word "like", like "I was like yeah, and he was like yeah, so we were like, like the same you know like". What would they do if we were to abandon and abolish the word "like", would it mute an entire nation? Perhaps not such a bad idea?

What other Americanisms irritate you and why?

PS: My pet hate is being corrected by Yanks for spelling things -ise and not -ize. Ye Bard woulde turne in his grave!
