Native Gallery keen to clinch Handicap Hurdle title
Native Gallery is h**l-bent to clinch top spot in the Auriga Network Handicap Hurdle which will take place at Cheltenham racecourse on Wednesday, April 18.
The high-stakes Class 2 contest over a distance of 2 miles, 4 furlongs and 110 yards is scheduled to start at 3:10 (GMT). The prize purse contains £10,010.
Native Gallery will confidently compete against a dozen of rivals including Jetnova, Minella Class, Pateese, The Pier, Royal Charm, Dancing Dude, First Fandango, Raslan, Fiulin, Red Not Blue and Court In Session.
The Ben De Haan-trained grey gelding has been registering epic feats since the dawn of 2011. The seven-year-old veteran runner marvellously won three races in a row from February 1 to December 3.
The talented horse moved ahead to grab a runner-up rank in his last start on March 17, 2012. Overall, he has won 5 out of his total 9 starts, earning £12,023.
Considering his outstanding success streak and inherent racing capabilities, the punters have stakes huge sums of money on Native Gallery’s victory in the Handicap Hurdle. Thus, the hot favourite horse’s chances to finish first are more than 90 percent.
However, some of his competitors like Minella Class and Jetnova can trigger upsets in the race.
Minella Class bagged two back-to-back victories each in December 2010 and January 2011. The legendary trainer Nicky Henderson’s brown gelding went ahead to earn two runner-up ranks each in February and November 2011. As a whole, he has three triumphs to
his name.
On the other hand, Jetnova grabbed 3rd top position in his last outing on March 21, 2012. Earlier, Alan King’s bay gelding had finished 5th each in two back-to-back races in December 2011 and January 2012. His portfolio contains 4 triumphs.
By and large, there is going to be a tough tug of war for the Handicap Hurdle title. The race will be packed with twists and turns. Let us see how Native Gallery manages to keep his head high till the finish line. Good luck to him.
