  1. Are you looking for herbaceous plants?  What you'll be able to grow successfully will depend on your soil type, soil conditions (pH?  available moisture?), and amount of sun/shade.

There are many PA natives such as Eastern columbine, Jack-in-the-pulpit, trilliums, asters, cardinal flower, bloodroot, etc. but some will need dry acidic woodlands while others prefer moist or sunny areas, or limestone soils.

If you're interested in shrubs, there are native rhododendron, azaleas, and mountain laurel (your state flower), which all prefer acidic soil, but differing amounts of moisture in the soil.

This link will provide a list of some nurseries around PA that sell native plants, and these should be able to help you further to find species which will thrive in conditions you have:  http://www.plantnative.com/nd_patova.htm...
