  1. That is a lot of information.

The problem is, the native american beliefs are not passed on in the written word, but through stories. If you want to know the specific beliefs of a specific tribe, visit that tribe and ask someone. (be respectful of course!)

As to answer some of your more general questions however...

Visions: These are guides for our life. Visions help us understand our lives, make choices, and walk the right path for us. We are sent visions when there is a message we need, or when we have doubts or questions that need answering.

Totem animal: This is the animal that represents you and your nature. Mine is a horse, and it represents my freedom of mind, my creativity and artistic nature.  My friend jen's is an otter, it represents her fun-loving nature.

Spirit Guides: These are animals that come to you use guides often in your visions. Right now my guides are a fox, a horse and a spider.  Your guides change over time based on what kind of guide you need at the time.  The horse is helping me to remember myself as I go through a very spiritual change in my life. The spider is helping me overcome my fears and the obstacles in my path.  I do not yet understand what the fox is trying to teach me.
