Residents of Valencia in the Santa Clarita Valley find Coots, also known as mud hens, a pest to their community. Coots are an endangered migratory bird that is native to california. And since there aren't very many sources of water left in parts of developed california, these birds fly to man made bodies of water. Bridgeport is a community in Valencia that has a man made lake in the center of it with houses build all around. The Homeowner's Association wants to get a permit to kill these birds which show up only a couple of months out of the year. The residents are complaining that they eat their grass and leave dropping everywhere.
What is your opinion? Does a homeowner's assocation have th right to kill native endangered species just because they don't like what they do? Even though the birds are attracted to what they build.
