Question:

Natrual Disasters...?

What is the most destructive, isolated, force? I'm looking for a natrual disaster that on average is the most distructive and is not world-ending (like Deep Impact). Like Mount Saint Helens, a land slide, hurricane, tornado, etc. Something people could live through that's not a supervolcano or that would probably end the world (like a giant astroid). It can change the world's climate (like that volcano in the Philipines that lowered world tempuratures 2 degrees for a while) and doesn't have to be measured in "human costs" (ie money, human life, etc). In general, what would you not want to be around at all (even with shelter, etc.)?

  1. Well for me it would have to be a hurricane. I went through Katrina in middle Mississippi and it was a Cat. 2 for about 1hr. then died down to Cat. 1.  My house was crushed by a Giant pine tree with me in it.  The National Weather Service is actually considering a Catergory 6 hurricane.  Wouldn't want to be around when that happens.

  2. Ok, this might not answer your question completely but the natural disaster i dont want around are volcanoes. Dont get me wrong, volcanoes are very important in the developing of the earth, but there is this Island out in the middle of the Atlantic. It has and active volcano on it and if/when it goes off the whole island will split in half and all the debris will set off a huge tsunami right towards the East Coast. and will kill everyone.
