Natsumi Hoshi seizes Women’s 200m butterfly gold: Day four - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Natsumi Hoshi seized gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on day four of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, April 5.
Hoshi remained dominant over her competitors in the playoff of the discipline and cemented her place on the victory stand for gold medal. With her commendable efforts, she remained significantly ahead of her competitors and occupied the crown of the event.
Hoshi remained prominently ahead of her following swimmer and lowered the Japanese record of the event by posting a time of 2 minutes and 04.69 seconds. Her effort remained nearly one second slower from the former mark of 2 minutes and 05.91 seconds.
The silver medal of the event was secured by Masami Uchikoshi, who stayed almost five seconds behind and reached the victory stand for silver medal by completing her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 09.24 seconds.
Uchikoshi stayed 0.33 seconds ahead of Yuka Katou, who proved her mettle for bronze medal of the discipline by ending her race in a time of 2 minutes and 09.57 seconds.
The third position holder was trailed by Hiroko Sugino, who stayed almost one second slower and reached the finishing end for fourth position by posting a time of 2 minutes and 10.51 seconds.
Sugino was chased by Jurina Shiga, who was nearly one body length behind and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 11.70 seconds for fifth position.
Shiga was chased by Kei Hoshiba, who stayed 0.13 seconds behind her former finisher and tapped the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.83 seconds.
Hoshiba was followed by Ayana Miwa, who remained just an inch slower from her over the finishing blockade and clocked a time 2 minutes and 11.91 seconds. Miwa was trailed by Nao Kobayashi, who stayed 0.74 seconds apart and earned eighth position of the discipline by posting a time of 2 minutes and 12.65 seconds.
In addition, the position holders were awarded accolades for their notable efforts in the 200m discipline while the championship will come to an end on April 8 after the completion of all swims.
